Contrary to this trend, the philosophy of Berti Knives, a manufacturer of exclusive knives for various purposes, stands firm. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop appears to be entirely independent of the trends that have emerged worldwide over the years. Their core principle is a commitment to tradition, which is now being upheld by the fourth generation of experienced artisans.
The founders of the brand strongly oppose the idea of mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity in the knives produced. Therefore, their work philosophy places special emphasis on the employed personnel. This does not mean, however, that the Italian family is closed to change. Changes are very welcome, provided they do not conflict with the existing philosophy and can meet long-term quality standards.
Unlike others, the various stages of knife production are not handled by specialized sections of artisans but are often performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
High-quality materials are used in production — blades are made of steel, while handles are crafted from materials such as buffalo horn, bison horn, deer antler, and 'bosso' wood.
The owners encourage that their products, although intended for everyday use, be treated with proper respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each one is, after all, a small, unique artifact.
