The Pen of the Year 2016 was inspired by the precious panels from the "Vieux-Laque" room made in the imperial manufactory in Beijing. A touch of Asia combined with German craftsmanship: the limited edition Pen of The Year 2016 pays homage to Austrian Empress Maria Theresa. After the unexpected death of her beloved husband Francis Stephen in 1765, Maria Theresa transformed one of the rooms in Schönbrunn Palace into a place dedicated to his memory. Black lacquer panels brought from Beijing were set in maple wood paneling and adorned with gilded frames.

From pencils to office accessories

The German manufactory began with the production of pencils, which are one of the simplest writing instruments, and thanks to this brand – they became a luxury good.
