Giancarlo Gorini's painting inspired by the works of the great Venetian painter Canaletto is a mysterious magic: you can almost feel the degree of dampness and the slow movement of the air. This is the secret of Gorini, who manages to restore a sense of reality by simplifying the brushstroke. The water is actually created with small brushstrokes, just as the shadows of stones on the quay are simple and essential. We see a group of people talking, children and fishermen, all in eighteenth-century attire that is pastel or gray-brown, even the gondolas are completely black.
