This very unusual knife has its roots in antiquity. It was once used for cutting saddle leather. Today, it works as a chocolate and other hard food cutter in the kitchen.

Saladini, an Italian manufacturer, offers reliable kitchen accessories with forged blades. Each product features an engraved logo of the manufacturer, which is a mark of authenticity and quality guarantee.

Marking is performed during craftwork, when the blade is not yet hardened.

Saladini is very selective in choosing steel – mainly using hardened stainless steel with high or 100% carbon content.

Saladini blades are made using two processes: rolling and forging.

The rolling method is used for manufacturing knife blades, cigar cutters, and certain lines of table knives. These blades are cut from steel sheets, with thickness depending on the intended use of the knife.

The most complex process is forging, performed with hammer and anvil, used for kitchen, table, and collector’s knives. Hand forging allows for creating precise shapes of blades, handles, and bolsters, which are then assembled into the handle.

After tempering, both types of blades are hardened and annealed during heat treatment, which, depending on the steel composition, determines the proper hardness for an optimal cutting edge.
