The Italian company Mepra was founded in 1947, but the entrepreneurial history of the Prandelli family begins many years earlier. In 1901, brothers Bortolo, Francesco, and Giovanbattista established the first Prandelli family business in the Lumezzane valley on the banks of the Gobbia river to harness the kinetic energy of water to power machinery.

Mepra was established in 1947 by the Prandelli brothers. The first factory producing 18/10 stainless steel cutlery was built in Lumezzane.
