In 1901, brothers Bortolo, Francesco, and Giovanbattista established the first family business in Lumezzane valley, by the Gobbia river, to harness kinetic water energy to power machinery.

The Mepra brand was created in 1947 by the Prandelli brothers. The first factory producing 18/10 stainless steel cutlery was established in Lumezzane.
