We are delighted to present to you the exceptionally luxurious brand Ongaro & Fuga, founded in 1954 by Franco Fuga and his wife Tullia Ongaro. The collaboration of these two highly creative individuals resulted in a distinctive and fresh perspective on art. They proudly emphasize that Ongaro & Fuga embodies a centuries-old tradition, reviving the magic and incredible Venetian mirrors.

Their talent was inherited by their son Julian, who continues the family traditions. Through collaborations with international artists and designers, he creates a bridge to the future. This is a significant nod to family and multi-generational craftsmanship. Julian believes that every cloud or colorful Italian façade reflecting in the lagoon waters provides vibrant material for new projects. Many of these elite mirrors are faithful reproductions of historic pieces. Ongaro & Fuga is part of the Consorzio Promovetro di Murano – a very important consortium, which is a member of Confartigianato Venezia and Confindustria Venezia. For over twenty years, they have been actively working to strengthen the image of artistic glass to preserve and defend the thousand-year-old Murano glass art. This is an extremely important initiative that does a lot of good for cultural heritage. Ongaro & Fuga are proud to hold the Promovetro certification for producing their mirrors on Murano.

What does the production of these famous mirrors look like?

It is a truly extraordinary craft. The reflection of this beauty is the result of very long work—challenged by the work of hands, heart, and soul. For this reason, artistic mirrors by Ongaro & Fuga come with a price. The effort involved often exceeds 100 hours and can include thousands of decorative elements. This is genuine luxury and a prime example of how strong European family workshops are. For centuries, artisans have driven the evolution of the premium industry, shaping the final appearance of the product with their hands. Everything begins with a sketch on paper. Then, the glass is gradually shaped to fit the design, using very delicate and smooth diamond grinding stones. Step by step, they refine sharp edges and uneven surfaces.
