Modern shelf for the living room - Malabar

Hollow is a public artwork installed at the University of Bristol by architects Zeller & Moyne and artist Katie Paterson. It combines various types of wood, as well as artworks composed of samples from over 10,000 tree species.

Inspired by this magnificent structure, our design team created something unique and came up with the modern Hollow dresser. The modern dresser is a unique piece to join our World Architects collection.

The dresser features various types of wood, combined with a brass structure that creates a beautiful landscape suitable for any contemporary home decor. Hollow is part of the World Architects collection.

The company Malabar was founded in 2012, with the launch of a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and the stylish World Architects furniture collection. It has designed and released a total of 5 unique series of furniture and accessories.

Malabar has left its mark at the most prestigious international fairs, such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, or Seoul International. And these are the top places to showcase.

Malabar's design originates from the Porto area, a northern region in Portugal, with a long and strong tradition in handmade products.

The identity of this prestigious brand is based on the national architectural and artistic heritage of the past 5 centuries. 

International experience and the pursuit of perfection are the details that pave the way for such original companies. Emotions, craftsmanship, and out-of-this-world design create an explosive mix of luxury furniture.

Various techniques of manufacturing goods from natural wood yield amazing results, as seen in Malabar's unique collections. An important aspect of design is the combination of neutral and black colors. 

Juicy and vivid colors dominate, significantly deviating from classic and template furniture.

In addition to wood, the brand uses brass, gold and silver leaf, as well as other high-quality raw materials. 

The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly visible in the bold furniture designs. 

The company's name comes from the black Malabar pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the cape. It was the value of original spices that prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a bold maritime route.

This is still the case today, as Malabar sets very individual boundaries of design and evokes extreme emotions with its projects. They are very liberated, seductive, bold, and extremely exclusive.

What raw materials does Malabar use in production?

The brand uses the most exclusive types of wood. These include: ebony, walnut, American walnut, oak, ironwood, elm, basswood, olive wood, bird's eye, variegated, poplar, satinwood, and ash.

Malabar also uses ancient lacquer application techniques. First, copper, gold, silver, rose, tiger color leaf is applied, and then lacquered. 

Types of glass used by the manufacturer: dark glass, smoked, gold, antique, and antique bronze.

The types of marble are also varied, including: sahara, gray kenzo, nero marquina, portoro, gris douro, black gold, Guatemala Verde, tiger skin, ochiro, calacatta vagli, Estremoz, carrara gold, carrara, white extremez, travertine.

Metals have been selected based on performance and quality. High-quality premium metal from copper, stainless steel, and galvanized steel.  Specifically chrome, black nickel-plated brass, polished brass, gold-plated brass, polished copper, antique brass, silver brass, brushed brass, ground polished brass, brass, and hammered polished copper.
