Beautiful design and attention to the smallest details are a guarantee of the highest quality from Tettau. The “Royal Privileged Porcelain Factory Tettau” has been in existence for over 200 years, making it the oldest porcelain factory in Bavaria. Great Alexander v. Sam Humboldt fought for its establishment in 1794.

Almost 100 years later, over 200 employees work here, including turners, firing specialists, glaze workers, painters of colors, and other artisans in the production halls.

In 1918, the management chose Max Wunderlich, who after World War II shifted production from affordable tableware to exclusive coffee and tea sets, which have been sold worldwide ever since as genuine, mostly handcrafted treasures. However, this does not satisfy the company, which continuously strives to better meet today’s demands. With the invention of a special hard porcelain, sold by the factory under the name Diamant, Königlich Tettau achieved a global innovation in the 2010/2011 season: a combination of the aesthetics of creamy and soft porcelain with the durability of hard porcelain. Since 1957, the company has been part of the Seltmann Weiden group.

To counteract the ongoing pressure from cheap imports from the Far East, the production, sales, and administration of Königlich priv. Tettau are integrated within the Seltmann Group locations in Rudolstadt / Volkstedt and Erbendorf. Thanks to these measures, Seltmann Weiden and Königlich priv. Tettau management have credibly ensured the continuation of production and sales of the “Königlich privilegierte Porzellan fabrik Tettau” brand.

Founded in 1910, the company “Porzellanfabriken Christian Seltmann” evolved into a group of companies still managed as a family business, through the acquisition of “Königlich Privierte Porzellanfabrik Tettau,” which includes four specialized porcelain factories and an art department established in 1990. In five plants, around 1,000 employees produce excellent porcelain for households, hotels, catering, institutional foodservice, and incentive programs. The next goal is to produce especially valuable sculptures by renowned artists and high-quality gifts.

Thanks to the acquisition of the Königlich Tettau porcelain factory and the Seltmann Group manufactory, the company has over 250 years of experience in porcelain manufacturing. The group's porcelain products meet the highest global standards in design, functionality, durability, and exclusivity. These properties are maintained only in Germany, reflecting the high standard of quality. In line with this philosophy, Seltmann Group — one of the few porcelain producers — keeps all its manufacturing facilities in Germany. Seltmann developed its own “Made in Germany” seal to credibly and sustainably emphasize the company's focus on quality and workplace safety. To maintain the extremely high quality of the product, Königlich Tettau porcelain is largely handcrafted.
