Description

The modern Ako table is inspired by European travelers from the 16th century who journeyed to Japan, a sovereign island nation in East Asia. The Ako table is an ode to great ingenuity, craftsmanship, and courage.

It is not just a contemporary side table but also features round top guides that reveal storage space within a wooden base, designed to hold a bottle of your favorite drink and glasses. Ako is handcrafted, lacquered wood with a polished brass base.

The modern Ako side table boasts a unique style that perfectly complements any contemporary living space. The Ako Side Table is part of the Heritage collection.

Malabar was founded in 2012, launching a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and the stylish World Architects furniture collection. Since then, it has designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory series.

Malabar has made its mark at major international trade fairs such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are among the top venues for showcasing innovative design.

Malabar’s furniture production originates from the Porto region in northern Portugal, an area with a long-standing tradition of handcrafted products.

The identity of this prestigious brand is rooted in the architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries.

International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that define such original companies. Emotions, handcrafted quality, and cosmic-inspired design create an explosive mix of exclusive furniture.

Various techniques used in creating products from natural wood produce incredible effects, as seen in Malabar’s exceptional collections. An important aspect of their design is the combination of neutral and black colors.

Vivid and striking hues dominate, significantly deviating from classic and stereotypical furniture styles.

Besides wood, the brand uses brass, gold and silver leaf, and other high-quality raw materials.

The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly reflected in bold furniture designs.

The company's name derives from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the Cape. The value of original spices motivated Portuguese merchants to chart bold sea routes.

This remains true today, as Malabar continues to set highly individual design boundaries and evokes strong emotions with its projects. Their designs are very liberated, seductive, daring, and extremely exclusive.

These are exactly the kinds of products we love and introduce on the My Luxury Products platform.

What raw materials does Malabar use in its production?

The company employs the most luxurious types of wood, including: ebony, walnut, American walnut, oak, ironwood, wenge, basswood, olive wood, bird’s eye, burl, poplar, satinwood, and ash.

Malabar also uses ancient lacquer techniques, first applying sheets of copper, gold, silver, pink, and tiger’s eye, then sealing with lacquer.

The types of glass used by the manufacturer include: dark glass, smoked, gold, antique, and antique brown.

The marble varieties are diverse, including: Sahara, Gray Kenzo, Nero Marquina, Portoro, Gris Douro, Black Gold, Guatemala Verde, Tiger’s Eye, Ochre, Calacatta Vagli, Estremoz, Carrara Gold, Carrara, White Extremez, and Travertine.

Precise options include chrome, nickel-plated black brass, polished brass, gold-plated brass, polished copper, antique brass, silver brass, brushed brass, polished brass, and hammered polished copper.
