Coltelleri Saladini produces kitchen knives with forged blades. Each blade features an engraved manufacturer’s logo, which serves as proof of authenticity and a guarantee of quality.

Marking is done during the craft process, when the blade is not yet hardened.

Saladini is very selective in choosing steel – mainly using hardened stainless steel with high or 100% carbon content.

For manufacturing blades, Saladini uses two processes: rolling and forging.

The rolling method is used for making knife blades, cigar cutters, and certain lines of table knives. These blades are cut from steel sheets, whose thickness depends on the intended use of the knife.

Forged blades undergo a more complex manufacturing process using a hammer and anvil, which are used for kitchen and table knives as well as collector’s items. Hand forging allows for creating the proper shapes of blades, bolsters, and pommels, which are then inserted into the handle.

After tempering, both types of blades are hardened and annealed during heat treatment, which, depending on the steel composition, determines the correct hardness for an optimal cutting edge.
