Luxurious modern square small table inspired by the construction of ancient Greek temples - Insidherland

Ionic side tables are based on one of the three classical architectural orders developed in ancient Greek temples called Ionic. Unlike the Doric, the oldest and most massive order, the columns of the Ionic and Corinthian orders consisted of three elements: the base, the shaft, and the capital. As symbols of worship, over the centuries many impressive temples were destroyed or simply fell into ruin.

The remains of Ionic temples with their beautifully preserved columns inspired the creation of Ionic side tables, each featuring a tripartite column missing one of its elements. This approach to an incomplete Ionic column uniquely presents unadorned forms of the base and capital, as the missing shaft is replaced by a modern metal structure comprising two separate elements. Ionic side tables, counteracting the process of ancient temple construction, have a delicate tapering design that allows for less contact with the floor, referencing how freeform modern designs would have been applied in the three-sided structure of a classical temple.
