Luxurious modern square small table inspired by the construction of ancient Greek temples - Insidherland

The Ionic side tables are based on one of the three classical architectural orders developed in ancient Greek temples called Ionic. Unlike the Doric, the oldest and most massive order, the columns of the Ionic and Corinthian orders consisted of three elements: the base, the shaft, and the capital. As symbols of worship, over the centuries many impressive temples were destroyed or simply fell into ruin.

The remains of Ionic temples with their beautifully preserved columns inspired the creation of Ionic side tables, each featuring a tripartite column missing one of its elements. This approach to incomplete Ionic columns uniquely presents unadorned forms of the base and capital, as the missing shaft is replaced by a modern metal structure comprising two separate elements. The Ionic side tables, counteracting the construction process of ancient temples, have a delicate tapering silhouette that allows for less contact with the floor, referencing how freeform modern designs would have been used in the three-sided structure of a classical temple.

A deep connection between personal memories and creative furniture designs is a hallmark of the Portuguese manufactory. Insidherland was entirely created by Joanne Santos Barbosa in 2012 and reflects high-quality luxury.
