We are delighted to present to you the exceptionally designer craftsmanship of Ongaro & Fuga, founded in 1954 by Franco Fuga and his wife Tullia Ongaro. The collaboration of these two highly creative individuals resulted in a distinctive and fresh perspective on art. They proudly emphasize that Ongaro & Fuga embodies a centuries-old tradition, reviving the magic and elegance of Venetian mirrors.

Their talent was inherited by their son Julian, who continues the family traditions. Through collaborations with renowned artists and designers, he creates a bridge to the future. This is a significant nod to family and multi-generational craftsmanship. Julian believes that every cloud or colorful Italian façade reflected in the lagoon waters provides vibrant inspiration for new designs. Many of these majestic mirrors are faithful reproductions of historic pieces. Ongaro & Fuga is part of the Consorzio Promovetro di Murano – an important consortium affiliated with Confartigianato Venezia and Confindustria Venezia. For over twenty years, they have been actively working to enhance the image of artistic glass to preserve and defend the thousand-year-old Murano glassmaking tradition. This is a highly significant initiative that does great work for cultural heritage. Ongaro and Fuga are proud to hold the Promovetro certification for producing their mirrors on Murano.

What does the production process look like?

This is a truly extraordinary craft. The reflection of this beauty is the result of very long work—crafted by hands, heart, and soul. That’s why Ongaro & Fuga’s exquisite mirrors come at a premium price. The work involved often exceeds 100 hours and can include thousands of decorative elements. It is genuine luxury and a testament to the strength of European family workshops. For centuries, artisans have driven the evolution of the premium industry, shaping the final appearance of each piece with their own hands. Everything begins with a sketch on paper. Then, the glass is gradually shaped to fit the design, using very delicate and smooth diamond grinding stones. Step by step, they refine sharp edges and imperfections.
