The philosophy of Berti Knives, a brand producing exclusive knives for various purposes, differs from this approach. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family-owned manufactory appears to be completely independent of the trends that have prevailed worldwide over the years. Its core principle is fidelity to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of experienced artisans.
The owners strongly oppose the idea of mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity in the products made. Therefore, their company's philosophy emphasizes the importance of the employed personnel. This does not mean, however, that this Italian family is closed to change. Changes are highly welcomed, provided they do not conflict with the existing vision and can pass the long-standing quality tests.
Unlike others, the various stages of knife production are not handled by specialized groups of craftsmen, but are often performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The best quality materials are used in production — blades are made of steel, while handles are made from materials including buffalo horn, bison horn, deer antler, and 'bosso' wood.
