Through this provocative bar stool project, Malabar conveys a message about itself: inspired by the past, yet with a touch of possibility and the future. Malabar designers were bold enough to create an artistic bar stool in the style of Roman architecture with golden wings. The wings symbolized freedom, liberation from rules—Malabar designs artistic works.

Letting imagination run wild, Malabar conceived the Flahy bar stool. Handcrafted by Portuguese artisans, this artistic bar stool features two offset cylindrical bases and an upholstered velvet seat adorned with a polished brass footrest.

Malabar's manufactory was established in 2012, alongside the launch of a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and the elegant World Architects furniture collection. They have designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory series.

Malabar has left its mark at major international trade fairs such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are among the top venues for showcasing innovative design.

Malabar furniture design originates from Porto, in northern Portugal, a region with a long and strong tradition of handcrafted products.

The company's name derives from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history after the discovery of the Cape. The value of original spices prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a daring maritime route. What raw materials does Malabar use?

The company employs the most exclusive types of wood, including: ebony, walnut, American walnut, oak, ironwood, wenge, basswood, olive wood, bird’s eye, irregular grain, poplar, satinwood, and ash.

Malabar also uses ancient lacquer techniques—first applying sheets of copper, gold, silver, rose, or tiger’s eye, then varnishing.

The types of glass used by the manufacturer include: dark glass, smoked, gold, antique, and antique brown. The marble varieties are diverse: Sahara, Gray Kenzo, Nero Marquina, Portoro, Gris Douro, Black Gold, Guatemala Verde, Tiger’s Eye, Ochre, Calacatta Vagli, Estremoz, Carrara Gold, Carrara, White Extreme, and Travertine.

Metals are selected based on efficiency and quality. High-grade premium metals such as copper, stainless steel, and galvanized steel are used.
