Malabar’s furniture design originates from the Porto region in northern Portugal, an area with a long and strong tradition of handcrafted products.

The company’s name comes from the Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the Cape. What raw materials does Malabar use?

The company employs the most exclusive types of wood, including: ebony, walnut, American walnut, oak, ironwood, elm, basswood, olive wood, bird’s eye, burl, poplar, satinwood, and ash.

Malabar also uses ancient lacquer techniques. First, copper, gold, silver, pink, and tiger-colored leaf are applied, then lacquered.

The types of glass used by the manufacturer include: dark glass, smoked, gold, antique, and antique brown.
