Behind this modern model, however, lies a tradition dating back to medieval times, when the authorities of the Venetian Republic decided to concentrate all glassmakers in one place. To this day, the name of this place is known worldwide, and the glass originating from there continues to delight crowds.

The Barbin family is one of the respected medieval clans that left its mark in Venice as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, by order of the Council of Ten (Consiglio dei Dieci), the Barbin family was inscribed in the Golden Book of Notable Murano Society, known as the register of the most distinguished glassmakers.
Additionally, the family was granted a coat of arms – depicting two bearded wise men facing each other with a star above their heads on a blue background – which can still be admired today in the Glass Museum on the island of Murano.
