It comes from the fleece of local sheep grazing at altitudes above 4200 meters above sea level. Their wool is rich in lanolin, which makes Odegard Carpets rugs more resistant to dirt.
Interesting shades result from manual processing and dyeing. Inspirations for creating the rugs include Venetian fabrics, Tibetan and Buddhist symbols, art, architecture, and nature. Many motifs are inspired by the shapes of tropical leaves or the colors of the setting sun over the snowy peaks of the Himalayas.
