Each product is created by hand in the Geneva workshops and brings together the traditional expertise of master craftsmen and the performance of computer-assisted machine tools. The Léman Fountain Pen - Black Mat model brings together Caran d'Ache's two major areas of expertise: Fine Writing and Colours. Now the collection also echoes the time in the middle of the night when the world is asleep and everything is calm and quiet. A time when total darkness takes over, when its daytime brilliance and reflections disappear and Lake Léman creates its most mysterious hue, Matt black. This is the powerful, deep shade of the new writing instrument by Caran d'Ache. Some people see it as suggesting the deep melancholy of the night, others see a stormy sky reflected in the lake with shadowy clouds tinting the surface of the water.
The grey lacquer of its softly rounded shape is dramatically contrasted by a silvered, rhodium-coated ring engraved with the Caran d'Ache name and the Swiss Made logo. The Léman Noir Mat is the first writing instrument in the collection with a matt rather than a polished surface.
