Giancarlo Gorini's canvas is inspired by the work “Il rio dei Mercanti” by Italian Venetian painter Francesco Guardi, who studied at the same prestigious landscape painting school as Canaletto and Bellotto. The painting reinterprets Guardi's Venice, which expressed itself through an almost intimate, miniature feature, typical of the artist's work, where only history could elevate one of the greatest representatives of 18th-century lagoon landscape painting.
