Description

Thin steel wires outline refined and elegant shapes that make up the Can Can lamp collection. Wavy lines highlighted by the play of light and shadow, created simply by the switch.

Fantastic design combined with extraordinary projects is synonymous with the Colico company. It is a nod to true craftsmanship, multi-generational manufacturing, and details that ultimately influence the style of the products made. A major advantage of these elegant chairs is the wide range of color choices and combinations, allowing you to have the dream design in your interior.

A bit of brand history

It's 1920, and in Brianza, a region with a peasant tradition near Milan, the first schools of design and carpentry are born, and artisan shops specializing in furniture production are gaining strength. This is where the company's history unfolds. A family history that begins with Andrea Colico and his passion for chairs, which he produces in a small space in the courtyard of the town of Cabiate.

The 1950s

After the difficult post-war years, the first breeze of change is felt by Antonio, Andrea's son. Aware of the growing attention of the bourgeois public to the value of the home and related goods, their refined taste, and the ongoing process of urbanization, he chooses to move himself and his family to Varedo, close to what is becoming one of the most important cities in Europe: Milan.

The 1960s

These are the golden years of furniture. Chair production is deeply rooted in this territory, drawing on taste, tradition, and a strong sense of belonging. But for Antonio, this is not enough; Antonio is a cautious entrepreneur and seizes the opportunity associated with the development of a new district in the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia and begins to differentiate the semi-finished products acquired in the province of Udine from the processing that continues in his workshop in Brianza.

The 1970s

Antonio Colico continues to grow and expand. These are flourishing years, years of economic development, where work is seen as a social value. And it is in this historical moment that Antonio decides to open a production plant in Friuli, a region increasingly specializing in wood processing for chair construction. However, the head and heart of the brand remain in Brianza, where Antonio's wife and his most loyal collaborators continue to work on the coatings and finishes of the products, paying attention to quality and the details for which the company is recognized. The commercial structure began to take shape also thanks to participation in 1970 in its first Salone Internazionale del Mobile, an event to which the Colico family would dedicate itself for the next 50 years.

The 1980s

The third significant phase in the entrepreneurial history of the Colico family began in the 1980s. Young Walter, the eldest son of Antonio and Maria, supports his father in managing the company. Thanks to design studies conducted abroad, Walter opens the doors of the family brand to design and international markets, which inspire him and towards which he directs his gaze. The new company was established in 1982, named Colico Design.

The 1990s

Ten years have passed since the new company's establishment, and Walter is joined by his younger brother Diego. Together with their father Antonio and an increasingly close-knit and consolidated family of collaborators, the company grows and strengthens in global markets, also thanks to participation in trade fairs. These are years of experimentation, the first tentative approach to using colors, but also attention to lines, which Walter greatly desired, increasingly becoming the creative element of the company thanks to his talent for beautiful, eccentric, and experimental things.

The year 2000

At the turn of the century, Colico Design expands thanks to an Italian and international distribution network. It's time to focus on the image, time to work on a representative collection. Thus, Walter collaborates with young architects and promising designers. The success was immediate: new, important business contacts were established, and Colico products began to be chosen by the most important television programs in the fields of entertainment, sports, information, and customs.

The year 2010

Walter, together with his childhood friend, now renowned architect Kicco Bestetti, creates an iconic product: the Milano 2015 chair. In this product, he pours his heart out: his love for his city and the joy of being an Expo 2015 host, his passion for color and new technologies, the lines of classicism, as well as the memories and emotions of forms he has been closely connected with since childhood. It is an instant success that continues to this day and has placed Milano 2015 at the center of several projects, including Design for Charity held in the magnificent setting of the Triennale building in April 2011, attended by artists of the caliber of Karim Rashid, Piero Lissoni, Elio Fiorucci, and Patricia Urquiola. 2015 Walter's path of discovery and introspection leads to 2015, where the journey is a return to the beginnings through a new collection, in which wood and upholstery return to the forefront, culminating in the creation of a new logo. A logo that centers on family, roots, and blood ties, but also on the people who have contributed to the creation of the history and tradition of this company, which is experiencing a century of history. But also the attention to the new, the desire to propose a different product, the desire to engage and ask: what is an atypical project. 2020 Today, Colico celebrates its 100th anniversary. 100 years spent by a family that has passed down its knowledge from hand to hand. A company that strives for development while maintaining a family dimension, simultaneously intertwining its business and life with the lives of each of the people who grow and live within it.
