In 1901, brothers Bortolo, Francesco, and Giovanbattista founded the first family business Prandelli in the Lumezzane valley, by the Gobbia river, to harness kinetic water energy to power machinery.

The Mepra company was created in 1947 by the Prandelli brothers. The first factory producing 18/10 stainless steel cutlery was established in Lumezzane.
