This is a reimagining of a stretchable and foldable chair. This seating piece has very ancient roots and should be recognized as one of the greatest anonymous contributions in the history of design. The uniqueness of this chair lies in its dual functionality: you can comfortably sit with your feet on the ground or on the footrest, or, by adjusting your body weight, find the perfect balance to lie down in complete relaxation. It is made from solid iroko or black walnut wood and upholstered with cotton fabric or leather. The screws and joints are made of stainless steel.
Their history is the story of a company designing and producing sustainable, high-quality handcrafted furniture. Tonucci Collection is a workshop of Tonucci Design studio.
Tonucci Design studio was founded in 1970, when Enrico Tonucci began his design career working with major Italian and international furniture brands, gaining significant experience as a designer and, over the years, as an entrepreneur through the creation and management of Triangolo, Arte Cuoio, and Teatro delle Muse companies. Viola Tonucci, educated in Urbino and at IED in Milan, with studies in graphic design and industrial design with a specialization in jewelry design, started collaborating with the studio in 2004, becoming a partner in 2012 until 2022, when she acquired a majority stake and took over the management of the brand.
Currently, the team consists of a handful of trusted collaborators who complement the sales and production departments.
MISSION
The production of furniture and interior accessories by this company is carried out using natural materials with respect for the environment and people. The company's mission is to genuinely combine design and manufacturing processes to create beauty and comfort, taking into account new environmental sensitivities and care for the well-being of individuals in both public and private spaces.
All production takes place in Italy, carried out by the finest artisans from the Marche to Romania.
