Coltelleria Saladini manufactures accessories and kitchen knives with forged blades. Each blade features an engraved manufacturer’s logo, which confirms authenticity and guarantees quality.
Marking is done during the craft process, before the blade is hardened.
Saladini is very selective in choosing steel — mainly using hardened stainless steel with high or 100% carbon content.
Saladini blades are produced using two processes: rolling and forging.
The rolling method is used for making knife blades, cigar closing cutters, and a certain line of table knives. These blades are cut from steel sheets, whose thickness depends on the intended use of the knife.
The complex forging process involves hammering and anviling, used for kitchen and table knives as well as collector’s items. Hand forging allows for shaping the blades, handles, and bolsters, which are then inserted into the handle.
After marking, both types of blades are hardened and annealed during heat treatment, which, depending on the steel composition, determines the proper hardness for an optimal cutting edge.
