Description

talia150 is Colico's tribute to its homeland, to tradition, to the culture of being together. Founded in 2011 as a symbol to commemorate the 150th anniversary of national unity, it is based on an original balance between classic lines and current materials and technologies.

Fantastic design combined with extraordinary projects is synonymous with the Colico brand. It is a nod to true craftsmanship, multi-generational manufacturing, and details that ultimately influence the style of the products made. A significant advantage of these exclusive chairs is the wide range of color choices and combinations, allowing you to have your dream design in your interior.

Important milestones in the brand's life

The year is 1920, and in Brianza, a region with a peasant tradition near Milan, the first design and carpentry schools are born, and artisan shops engaged in furniture production are gaining strength. This is where the company's history unfolds. A family history that begins with Andrea Colico and his passion for chairs, which he produces in a small space in the courtyard of the town of Cabiate.

The 1950s

After the difficult post-war years, the first breath of change is felt by Antonio, Andrea's son. Aware of the bourgeois public's growing attention to the value of the home and related goods, their sophisticated taste, and the ongoing urbanization process, he chooses for himself and his family to move to Varedo, close to what is becoming one of the most important cities in Europe: Milan.

The 1960s

These are the golden years of furniture. Chair production is deeply rooted in this territory, drawing on taste, tradition, and a strong sense of belonging. But for Antonio, this is not enough; Antonio is a cautious entrepreneur and takes advantage of the opportunity associated with the development of a new district in the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia and begins to differentiate the semi-finished products acquired in the province of Udine from the processing that continues in his workshop in Brianza.

The 1970s

Antonio Colico continues to grow and expand. These are flourishing years, years of economic development, where work is seen as a social value. And it is at this historical moment that Antonio decides to open a production plant in Friuli, a region increasingly specializing in wood processing for chair production. However, the heart and soul of the brand remain in Brianza, where Antonio's wife and his most loyal collaborators continue to work on the coatings and finishes of the products, paying attention to quality and detail for which the company is recognized. The commercial structure began to take shape also thanks to participation in 1970 in its first Salone Internazionale del Mobile, an event to which the Colico family will dedicate itself for the next 50 years.

The 1980s

The third important stage in the entrepreneurial history of the Colico family began in the 1980s. Young Walter, the eldest son of Antonio and Maria, supports his father in managing the company. Thanks to design studies conducted abroad, Walter opens the doors of the family brand to design and international markets, which he is inspired by and to which he directs his gaze. A new company was established in 1982, named Colico Design.

The 1990s

Ten years have passed since the establishment of the new company, and Walter is joined by his younger brother Diego. Along with their father Antonio and an increasingly tight-knit and consolidated family of collaborators, the company grows and strengthens in international markets, also thanks to participation in trade fairs. These are years of experimentation, the first tentative approach to using colors, but also attention to lines, which Walter greatly desired, who increasingly becomes a creative element of the company thanks to his talent for beautiful, eccentric, and experimental things.

The year 2000

At the turn of the century, Colico Design expands thanks to an Italian and foreign distribution network. It's time to focus on the image, time to work on a representative collection. In this way, Walter collaborates with young architects and promising designers. The success was immediate: new, important business contacts were established, and Colico products began to be chosen by the most important television programs in the fields of entertainment, sports, information, and customs.

Year 2010

Walter, together with his childhood friend, now renowned architect Kicco Bestetti, creates an iconic product: the Milano 2015 chair. In this product, he pours all his passion: love for his city and the joy of being the host of Expo 2015, a fondness for color and new technologies, classic lines, as well as memories and emotions of forms he has been closely connected with since childhood. It is an instant success that continues to this day and has placed Milano 2015 at the center of several projects, including Design for Charity held in the magnificent setting of the Triennale building in April 2011, attended by artists of the caliber of Karim Rashid, Piero Lissoni, Elio Fiorucci, and Patricia Urquiola.

Year 2015

Walter's journey of discovery and introspection leads to 2015, where the path is a return to the beginnings through a new collection, in which wood and upholstery return to the role of protagonists, culminating in the creation of a new logo. A logo that centers on family, roots, and blood ties, but also on the people who have contributed to the creation of the history and tradition of this company, which is experiencing a century of history. But also attention to the new, the desire to propose a different product, the desire to engage and ask: what is an atypical project.

Year 2020

Today, the Colico brand celebrates its 100th anniversary. 100 years spent by a family passing down their knowledge from hand to hand. A company that strives for development while maintaining a family dimension, simultaneously intertwining its business and life with the lives of each of the people who grow and live within it.
