Description
Hiroshige was one of the last great creators of ukiyo-e, a genre of woodblock prints that flourished between the 17th and 19th centuries. He did much to define the world's visual concept of Japan. This reliable introduction through blooming cherry trees, beautiful women, and dramatic ocean views made Hiroshige a household name and became an example of Japonisme.
