With pleasure, we present the exceptionally designer brand Ongaro & Fuga, founded in 1954 by Franco Fuga and his wife Tullia Ongaro. The combination of these two highly creative individuals gave rise to a distinctive and fresh perspective on art. They proudly emphasize that Ongaro & Fuga is rooted in a centuries-old tradition, which revives the magic and elegance of Venetian mirrors.

Their talent was inherited by their son Julian, who continues the family traditions. Through collaboration with international artists and designers, he creates a bridge to the future. This is a significant nod to family and multi-generational craftsmanship. Julian believes that every cloud or colorful Italian façade reflected in the lagoon waters provides vibrant material for new projects. Many of these majestic mirrors are faithful reproductions of historic pieces. Ongaro & Fuga is part of the Consorzio Promovetro di Murano – a very important consortium, which is a member of Confartigianato Venezia and Confindustria Venezia. For over twenty years, they have continuously worked to strengthen the image of artistic glass to preserve and defend the thousand-year-old Murano glass art. This is an extremely important initiative that does a lot of good for cultural heritage. Ongaro and Fuga are proud of their Promovetro certification for producing their mirrors on Murano.

How are these famous mirrors made?

This is a truly extraordinary product. Its beauty reflects a very long process—crafted with the work of hands, heart, and soul. For this reason, Ongaro and Fuga’s artistic mirrors have their price. The effort involved often exceeds 100 hours and may include thousands of decorative elements. This is genuine luxury and a testament to how strong European family manufactories are. For centuries, artisans have driven the evolution of the premium industry, shaping the final appearance of the product with their hands. Everything begins with a sketch on paper. Then, the glass is gradually shaped to fit the design, using very delicate and smooth diamond grinding stones. Step by step, they refine sharp edges and uneven surfaces.
