The Barbiní family belongs to a medieval lineage of glassmakers who have been present on the island of Murano since the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, during the Venetian Republic, by order of the Consiglio dei Dieci council, the Barbiní family was inscribed in the Golden Book of Murano Society’s Notables, known as the register of the most distinguished glassmakers in Venice.
Additionally, they were granted a coat of arms—depicting two bearded wise men facing each other with a star above their heads on a blue background—which can still be admired at the Glass Museum on Murano Island.
