Description

Captivating design and attention to the finest details guarantee the highest quality of the Tettau brand. The “Royal Privileged Porcelain Factory Tettau” has been in operation for over 200 years, making it the oldest porcelain factory in Bavaria. The great Alexander v. Sam Humboldt fought for its establishment in 1794.

Almost 100 years later, more than 200 employees work here, including turners, firing specialists, glaze technicians, color painters, and other artisans in the production halls.

In 1918, the management chose Max Wunderlich, who after World War II shifted production from affordable tableware to exquisite coffee and tea sets, which have been sold worldwide ever since as genuine, mostly handcrafted treasures. However, this does not satisfy the brand, which continues to pursue the goal of better meeting today’s demands. With the invention of a special hard porcelain, sold under the name Diamant, Königlich Tettau achieved a world novelty in the 2010/2011 season: a combination of the aesthetics of creamy and soft porcelain with the durability of hard porcelain. Since 1957, the company has been part of the Seltmann Weiden group.

Relocation of the Royal Privileged Porcelain Factory Tettau

To counteract the ongoing pressure from cheap imports from the Far East, the production, sales, and administration of Königlich priv. Tettau are integrated within the Seltmann Rudolstadt / Volkstedt group and the Erbendorf plant. Thanks to these measures, the management of Seltmann Weiden and Königlich priv. Tettau has credibly ensured the continuation of production and sales of the “Königlich privilegierte Porzellan fabrik Tettau” products.

Founded in 1910, the company “Porzellanfabriken Christian Seltmann” evolved into a group of companies still managed as a family business, through the acquisition of “Königlich Privierte Porzellanfabrik Tettau” with four specialized porcelain factories and an artistic department established in 1990. In five plants, approximately 1,000 employees produce prestigious porcelain for households, hotels, catering, institutional foodservice, and motivational programs. The next goal is to produce especially valuable sculptures by renowned artists and high-quality gifts.

Thanks to the acquisition of the Königlich Tettau porcelain factory and the manufactory group, Seltmann has over 250 years of experience in porcelain production. The group’s porcelain meets the highest global standards in design, functionality, durability, and exclusivity. These properties, which can only be maintained at a high standard in Germany, define the products. In line with this philosophy, Seltmann Group—one of the few porcelain producers—keeps all its manufacturing facilities in Germany. The company has developed its own “Made in Germany” seal to credibly and sustainably emphasize its focus on quality and workplace safety. To maintain the extremely high quality of its products, Königlich Tettau porcelain is largely handcrafted. The excellent results in design, ergonomics, and functionality are visible in everyday life—and can always be “captured” ...
