Behind this modern model lies centuries of experience. Back in the day, the authorities of the Venetian Republic decided to concentrate all glassmakers in one place. To this day, its name is known worldwide, and the products originating from there are breathtaking.
The Barbin family is one of the respected medieval families that has been present on the island of Murano since the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, by order of the Consiglio dei Dieci, the Barbin family was recorded in the Golden Book of Murano Society’s Notables, a list of the most distinguished glassmakers in Venice.
At that time, the family was granted a coat of arms – two bearded wise men looking at each other with a star between them on a blue background – which can still be seen today in the Glass Museum on Murano Island.
