The collaboration of these two highly creative individuals resulted in a bold and fresh perspective on art. They proudly emphasize that Ongaro & Fuga is a tradition spanning centuries, reviving the magic and elegance of Venetian mirrors.

Their talent was inherited by their son Julian, who continues the family traditions. Through collaboration with renowned artists and designers, he creates a bridge to the future. This is a great homage to family and multi-generational craftsmanship. Julian believes that every cloud or colorful Italian façade reflected in the lagoon waters provides vibrant material for new projects. Many of these luxurious mirrors are faithful reproductions of historic pieces. Ongaro & Fuga is part of the Consorzio Promovetro di Murano – a very important consortium that is a member of Confartigianato Venezia and Confindustria Venezia. For over twenty years, they have been actively working to strengthen the image of artistic glass to preserve and defend the thousand-year-old Murano glassmaking tradition. This is an incredibly important initiative that does a lot of good for cultural heritage. Ongaro and Fuga are proud to hold the Promovetro certification for producing their mirrors in Murano.

What does the production process look like?

This is a truly extraordinary product. Its beauty reflects a very long process—crafted with effort by hands, heart, and soul. That’s why Ongaro and Fuga’s artistic mirrors come at a premium. The work involved often exceeds 100 hours and can include thousands of decorative elements. This is genuine luxury and a testament to how strong European family workshops are. For centuries, it has been artisans who drove the evolution of the premium industry, shaping the final appearance of each piece with their own hands. Everything begins with a sketch on paper. Then, the glass is gradually shaped to fit the design, using very delicate and smooth diamond grinding stones. Step by step, they refine sharp edges and uneven surfaces.
