Description

Malabar was founded in 2012, with the launch of a wide range of decorative guitars Fado and the collection of elegant furniture by World Architects. It has designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory series.

Malabar has left its mark at major international trade fairs such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are among the top venues for showcasing.

Malabar’s furniture design originates from the Porto area, in northern Portugal, a region with a long and strong tradition of handcrafted products.

The identity of this prestigious brand is based on the national architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries. International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that set such original companies apart. Emotions, handcrafted craftsmanship, and space-inspired design create an explosive mix of luxurious furniture. Various techniques of working with natural wood produce incredible effects, as seen in Malabar’s exceptional collections.

An important aspect of the design is the combination of neutral and black colors. Juicy and vivid hues dominate, significantly diverging from classic and standard furniture. Besides wood, the manufacturer uses brass, gold and silver leaf, and other high-quality raw materials. The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly reflected in bold furniture designs.

The company’s name comes from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history after the discovery of the Cape. The value of original spices prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a daring sea route. This remains true today, as Malabar continues to define very individual design boundaries and evokes strong emotions with its projects. They are very liberated, seductive, bold, and extremely luxurious.

What raw materials does Malabar use?

The company employs the most exclusive types of wood, including: ebony, walnut, American walnut, oak, ironwood, wenge, basswood, olive wood, bird’s eye, irregular, poplar, satinwood, and ash.

The tabletop of this piece of furniture is made of wood finished with high-gloss black varnish surrounded by a subtle line of elements covered with gold leaf. The structure is supported on one neatly designed geometric foot made of lacquered wood and gold-plated hemispheres.
