Description

Alexander Rodchenko, considered one of the founders of the constructivist movement, sought new forms and ways of practicing art. Alexander believed that there was no place for art in the hermetic space of the artist's studio. Instead, it should reflect modernity. Rodchenko's works were heavily influenced by Cubism and Futurism, which depicted geometric shapes arranged on a white background. Inspired by this movement and its famous realistic abstraction, Malabar designers conceived this future classic sofa.

Define your living room decor with the Mood sofa, which can be customized to fit your space and taste. This modular sofa, crafted from walnut wood by our experienced artisans and upholstered in cotton velvet, features lacquered legs and three cushions. Thanks to its carefully balanced proportions, modular construction, and comfortable poufs, the Mood sofa will become the centerpiece of your interior design.

Malabar brand was founded in 2012, alongside the launch of a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and the elegant World Architects furniture collection. It has designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory series.

Malabar has left its mark at major international fairs such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are among the top venues for showcasing innovative design.

Malabar furniture design originates from Porto, in northern Portugal, a region with a long and strong tradition of handcrafted products.

The identity of this prestigious brand is rooted in the architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries. International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that guide such original companies. Emotions, handcrafted craftsmanship, and space-inspired design create an explosive mix of luxurious furniture. Various techniques of working with natural wood produce stunning effects, as seen in Malabar’s exceptional collections.

An important aspect of their design approach is the combination of neutral and black colors. Vivid and bold hues dominate, diverging significantly from traditional and stereotypical furniture. Besides wood, the manufacturer uses brass, gold and silver leaf, and other high-quality raw materials. The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly reflected in the daring furniture designs.

The company's name derives from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the Cape. The value of original spices prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a bold maritime route. This tradition continues today, as Malabar defines very distinctive design boundaries and evokes strong emotions with its projects. They are very liberated, seductive, daring, and extremely luxurious.
