Description

Innovative design combined with a fascinating history gives the Maronese brand its synonymy.
Brothers Giovanni, born in 1941, and Iginio, born in 1942, were still boys when in 1966 they decided to establish, along with two other partners, Angelo and Bruno, the Maronese furniture factory on via Taglio in Maron di Brugnera.
It is Monday, October 3rd, the day when four young people with a capital of 2,000,000 lire begin their adventure. These are years of great change, remembered today as the “good years,” times when the founders had big dreams and at the same time high hopes for their realization. A close connection to the territory is the starting point for the story of Maronese. In the 1960s, the Livenza region around Brugnera was rapidly changing, opening up to a new industrial structure. But the values remain the same as always, passed down from fathers to children from generation to generation: incredible dedication to work, innate sense of duty, and a deeply rooted desire for growth.
In this context, the initiative of the Polesello brothers and partners Copat and Billot found fertile ground, transforming their entrepreneurship into an internationally renowned company. They were not involved in trade but in transportation, which is how they began to understand the furniture industry and get to know customers. They traveled all over Italy, from Sicily to Aprica, up towards Sondrio, and one day they asked themselves: why can't we make furniture ourselves?

In an old building belonging to one of the partners, the first furniture prototypes are created. There is enough time to finish the shed, and the company moves to a larger location suitable for introducing machinery to meet the growing demand for production. Wives help out, some employees are hired, and “la Maronese” begins to gain fame. In 1967, the first showroom models were presented at Salone del Mobile Italiano in Milan. This was just the beginning of a long success story that continues to this day.
The business does not start immediately; it takes time to get known and to showcase the product. Furniture manufacturers from Pesaro and Brianza are already established in large markets, while in the Pordenone area, furniture companies are just starting out: to challenge the competition, production must be excellent. Customers scrutinize every detail, first removing drawers to see if they are made to perfection or just “bird’s beak.” Furniture passes quality tests, is displayed in shop windows across Italy, and sells quickly.
Work grows, and with it, Maronese.
New expansions in the mid and late 1980s are a visible and tangible result of a company that continually invests in technology, people, and quality—never losing the courage that has always distinguished it from the very beginning. Who knows how to change something through the style of its collection. 1986 was a year of economic revival for the entire furniture sector, both in Italy and abroad, and Maronese increased exports. Germany became a reference foreign market for years: ad hoc models were created to meet the functional and aesthetic requirements of demanding clients. During the busiest periods, especially during the boom of 1995, over 38 trucks left the Maronese warehouses every week. The experience, techniques, and knowledge gained over the years allow Maronese to openly face the world and prepare to handle the complexities of the 1990s.
The mid-1990s proved to be an ideal time for “showing off,” communicating externally a consolidated company image that, along with other Group companies, now feels the need to share space within an environment that reflects the concept of a complete home, always aligned with the spirit of the times. In Brugnera, a large space of 7,000 square meters was created, later expanded to 11,000 square meters, encompassing the entire production of the ATMA Group: the Poma showroom. A constantly updated scenographic path captures the state of furniture, trends, and lifestyles through proposals from individual brands. A place for networking with other group companies, but also with retailers, where events and meetings can be organized, and relationships nurtured.
The arrival of the new millennium brings significant changes and innovations; the world is becoming increasingly interconnected, and language is global: in the furniture industry, living areas are becoming living spaces, lifestyle is transforming into a way of life, and trends set new directions. Maronese introduces contemporary production with ACF: something that has been missing and allows Maronese to make another leap forward.
Night and day. From the production center in 2008, ACF became a brand: a reference point for the development of a new concept of night and day design, which immediately stood out for its innovative approach to products and continuous search for new shapes and original finishes.
Minimal aesthetics and compositional simplicity are perfectly integrated with the need for functionality and versatility, making interior solutions very current. In 2014, the classic-modern Maronese joins the contemporary ACF: Maronese ACF is born, the unique and grand reality that breathes life into the new “Maronese house” project. A comparison of two generations, but above all, two generations that today walk the same path toward the future.
Maronese, the parent company of the ATMA group, currently covers an area of 48,000 square meters. Continuous investments in structural expansion, technological innovation, and increasingly specialized human resources have allowed us over the years to build a solid yet dynamic identity. The bond with the territory and the people, but above all the strong family connection of the Polesello family, is the main theme of this long story, which has been successfully ongoing since 1966.
