Description
Frank Lloyd Wright, the renowned American architect and leading figure of the Prairie School, took us on a journey through modernist design, and Malabar designed the Volute Side Table, part of the same family as the Volute Dining Table. Combining organic building design with marquetry techniques, this modern and conceptual table features a top made of extra-transparent glass with a lacquered iron frame finished in high-gloss lacquer.
It is supported by a base composed of deciduous wood and lacquered layered wood finished with high-gloss lacquer. This artistic piece of furniture is an enigmatic decorative element suitable for any interior.
Malabar was founded in 2012, introducing a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and the stylish World Architects furniture collection to the market. Since then, it has designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory series.
Malabar has showcased its work at major international fairs such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are among the top venues for exposure.
Malabar’s furniture production originates from the Porto area, in northern Portugal, a region with a long-standing tradition of handcrafted products.
The identity of this prestigious brand is rooted in the national architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries.
International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that define such original companies. Emotions, handcrafted craftsmanship, and space-inspired design create an explosive mix of exclusive furniture.
The use of various techniques in creating products from natural wood results in stunning effects, as seen in Malabar’s exceptional collections. An important aspect of their design is the combination of neutral and black colors.
Vivid and bold hues dominate, significantly deviating from traditional and stereotypical furniture.
Besides wood, the manufactory uses brass, gold and silver leaf, as well as other high-quality raw materials.
The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly reflected in their daring furniture designs.
The company’s name comes from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the Cape. The value of original spices prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a bold maritime route.
This tradition continues today, as Malabar defines highly individual design boundaries and evokes strong emotions with its projects. Their creations are very liberated, seductive, daring, and extremely luxurious.
And these are the kinds of products we love and feature on the My Luxury Products platform.
