Description
Frank Lloyd Wright, the renowned American architect and leading figure of the Prairie school, took us on a journey through modernist design. Malabar designed the Volute Side Table, part of the same family as the Volute Dining Table, blending organic building design with marquetry techniques. This modern and conceptual table features a top made from extra-transparent glass with a lacquered iron frame finished in high-gloss lacquer.
It is supported by a base composed of deciduous wood and lacquered layered wood finished with high-gloss lacquer. This artistic piece of furniture is an enigmatic decorative element suitable for any interior.
The Malabar brand was founded in 2012, alongside the launch of a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and the stylish World Architects furniture collection. Since then, it has designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory series.
Malabar has showcased its work at major international fairs such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are among the top venues for industry exposure.
Malabar’s furniture production originates from the Porto area in northern Portugal, a region with a long-standing tradition of handcrafted products.
The identity of this prestigious brand is rooted in the architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries.
International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that define such original companies. Emotions, handcrafted craftsmanship, and space-inspired design create an explosive mix of exclusive furniture.
The use of various techniques in working with natural wood results in incredible effects, as seen in Malabar’s exceptional collections. An important aspect of their design is the combination of neutral and black colors.
Vivid and bold hues dominate, significantly diverging from traditional and stereotypical furniture styles.
In addition to wood, the manufactory uses brass, gold and silver leaf, as well as other high-quality raw materials.
The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly reflected in their daring furniture designs.
The company's name derives from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history after the discovery of the Cape. The value of original spices motivated Portuguese merchants to chart bold sea routes.
This tradition continues today, as Malabar defines very individual design boundaries and evokes strong emotions with its projects. Their pieces are very liberated, seductive, daring, and extremely luxurious.
Such products are what we love and bring to the My Luxury Products platform.
