Contrary to this trend, the philosophy of Berti Knives is rooted in producing exceptional knives for various uses. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop seems to operate completely independently of the trends that have dominated the world over the years. Its most important value is fidelity to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of these master craftsmen.
The founders firmly oppose the idea of mass production by random labor forces, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity in the knives produced. For this reason, their company's work philosophy places a special emphasis on the employed personnel. However, this does not mean that this Italian family is closed to innovations. They are highly desirable, provided they do not conflict with the existing vision and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike others, the various stages of knife making are not handled by specialized groups of artisans, but are often performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The production uses the highest quality materials — blades are made of steel, and handles are, among others, crafted from bison, buffalo, deer horns, or 'bosso' wood.
The owners suggest that, although their products are intended for everyday use, they should be treated with proper respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each one is, after all, a small, unique artifact.
