Description
With pleasure, we present the exceptionally designer craftsmanship of Ongaro & Fuga, founded in 1954 by Franco Fuga and his wife Tullia Ongaro. The collaboration of these two highly creative individuals resulted in a distinctive and fresh perspective on art. They proudly emphasize that Ongaro & Fuga is a centuries-old tradition, reviving the magic and prestigious Venetian mirrors.
Their talent was inherited by their son Julian, who continues the family traditions. Through collaboration with international artists and designers, he creates a bridge to the future. This is a great nod to family and multi-generational craftsmanship. Julian believes that every cloud or colorful Italian façade reflecting in the lagoon waters provides vibrant material for new projects. Many of these elite mirrors are faithful reproductions of historic pieces. Ongaro & Fuga is part of the Consorzio Promovetro di Murano – a very important consortium that is a member of Confartigianato Venezia and Confindustria Venezia. For over twenty years, they have been actively working to strengthen the image of artistic glass to preserve and defend the thousand-year-old Murano glass art. This is an extremely important initiative that does a lot of good for cultural heritage. Ongaro and Fuga are proud to hold the Promovetro certification for producing their mirrors on Murano.
How is production carried out?
This is a truly extraordinary product. The reflection of this beauty is a very long process—crafted with the work of hands, heart, and soul. That’s why Ongaro and Fuga’s exquisite mirrors come at a premium. The work involved often exceeds 100 hours and may include thousands of decorative elements. This is genuine luxury and a testament to how strong European family workshops are. For centuries, artisans have driven the evolution of the premium industry, shaping the final appearance of the product with their hands. Everything begins with a sketch on paper. Then, the glass is gradually shaped to fit the design, using very delicate and smooth diamond grinding stones. Step by step, they refine sharp edges and imperfections. From a brilliant idea, a luxurious harmony that blends tradition with modernity is born! It’s magic—these mirrors, if they wish, can become the focal point of your interior.
