La Mestra Ninfa, owner of Ceramiche Valchida, is a visual arts teacher, decorator, and also a painting conservator. Unique skill in decoration, especially in figurative work, makes her creations one of a kind. Today, many imitate her style, which is dedicated to lovers and connoisseurs of functional masterpieces. All products are the result of extensive experience and craftsmanship of the artist. The story begins when the owner creates her first decorations on kitchen countertops, as well as asymmetrical sculptures. She has the blood of ancestors flowing in her veins, who were skilled artisans. For many generations, they were involved in tailoring, ironworking, and the production of wardrobes in a shoe factory. Therefore, the entire philosophy of Ceramiche Valchida is based on family tradition, which still endures in these luxurious stone countertops.
The primary material used in production is lava stone, formed from the flowing and solidifying magma of Mount Etna. It can be said to be an eternal raw material, as fascinating as all of Sicily itself. The creation process begins with the delivery of whole lava blocks, which are then processed and shaped according to customer wishes. They are then subjected to a ceramic firing process at 950 degrees Celsius. This makes them highly resistant to stains, scratches, acids, water, frost, and sunlight—especially important for outdoor use. Upon request, the manufacturer customizes dimensions, patterns, and shapes of the countertops according to client specifications. Legs, frames, and supports made of metal, iron, or cast iron are recommended for the products.
Exclusive stone and ceramic countertops are hand-painted with attention to every detail. Upon request, the brand creates patterns based on individual customer designs.
