Description
Petri Firenze features exciting objects that blend the beauty of nature with the craftsmanship of highlighting every detail, using both new and ancient techniques. These are exclusive collections created in the Petri workshop in San Casciano Val di Pesa, on the hillside of Florence. Here, in the heart of the Chianti region, where art, nature, history, and technique have always coexisted and intertwined, Simone Petri founded a company capable of creating true objects of wonder.
Beautiful shells, fossils, gemstones, crystals, beads, noble wood, and animal horns come together with precious metals to become richly charming furniture accessories with stories to tell. In this way, they transform into something unique, original, timeless, and capable of maintaining their charm forever.
Petri workshop creations are inspired by the old “Wunderkammer,” cabinets of curiosities that eighteenth-century European travelers assembled from their memories, to give a place to ordinary exotic and extraordinary objects, treasure chests of functions, and memories as home decorations. Now, as then, these collections provide spaces where we live to remember all the wonders that nature can offer. However, Petri’s objects surpass the inspiration and charm of “Wunderkammer,” intertwining with contemporary design, material furnishings, and the main elegant accents of modern craftsmanship.
History of Petri Firenze
Dynamics, exceptional collections, attention to detail, and the ability to produce both small and large quantities, respecting client needs and deadlines: these have always been the company's strengths. Founded in 1991, it initially specialized in cutlery and silver furniture accessories, thanks to the experience of the owners gained in other Florentine companies in the industry. With this consolidated “know-how,” the company began producing for many leading global manufacturers in the silver decoration sector.
However, over time, public tastes and market needs changed, prompting Simone Petri to experiment with new approaches. Collections became more diverse and are now renewed twice a year, while maintaining a connection to traditional silver work, enriched with extraordinary objects and materials—from gemstones to quartz, from coral to shells, from animal horns to fossils. Petri is capable of managing the entire production cycle: from designing the object, even using the latest technology, to creating prototypes, and finally delivering a finished item with every detail perfected.
Thanks to the new collections, in addition to the dominant Italian market in the early years, export was added, which now constitutes the company’s “main activity,” with significant commercial opportunities, especially across Europe, the United States, and Arab countries. Its participation in major trade fairs such as Maison et Objet in Paris and Homi in Milan has also had a significant impact.
Today, besides supplying other companies and specialty shops, the artisan Petri company primarily collaborates with architects and interior designers: professionals seeking unique, even custom-made elements. Small and large works of art that add a touch of magic to their surroundings.
One thing, however, has not changed: for Simone and his colleagues, creating “objects of wonder” is not just work; it’s also fun, passion, and love for beauty. A way to share the joy of their discoveries with the company’s clients.
