Designer design combined with incredible projects is synonymous with the Colico brand. It is a nod to true craftsmanship, multi-generational manufacturing, and details that ultimately influence the style of the products made. A significant advantage of these elegant chairs is the wide range of color choices and combinations, allowing you to have the dream design in your interior.

Important stages in the brand's life

It's 1920, and in Brianza, a region with a peasant tradition near Milan, the first schools of design and carpentry are born, and artisan shops engaged in furniture production are gaining strength. This is where the company's history unfolds. A family history that begins with Andrea Colico and his passion for chairs, which he produces in a small space in the courtyard of the town of Cabiate.

The 50s

After the difficult post-war years, the first breath of change is felt by Antonio, Andrea's son. Aware of the growing attention of the bourgeois public to the value of the home and its related goods, their refined taste, and the ongoing process of urbanization, he chooses for himself and his family to move to Varedo, close to what is becoming one of the most important cities in Europe: Milan.

The 60s

These are the golden years of furniture. The production of chairs is deeply rooted in this territory, drawing on taste, tradition, and a strong sense of belonging. But for Antonio, this is not enough; Antonio is a cautious entrepreneur and takes advantage of the opportunity associated with the development of a new district in the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia and begins to distinguish semi-finished products acquired in the province of Udine from processing, which continues in his laboratory in Brianza.

The 70s

Antonio Colico continues to grow and expand. These are flourishing years, years of economic development, where work is seen as a social value. And it is in this historical moment that Antonio decides to open a production plant in Friuli, a region increasingly specializing in wood processing for chair construction. However, the head and heart of the brand remain in Brianza, where Antonio's wife and his most loyal collaborators continue to work on the coatings and finishes of the products, paying attention to quality and the details for which the company is recognized. The commercial structure also began to take shape thanks to participation in 1970 in its first Salone Internazionale del Mobile, an event to which the Colico family will dedicate themselves for the next 50 years.

The 80s

The third important stage in the entrepreneurial history of the Colico family began in the 80s. Young Walter, the eldest son of Antonio and Maria, supports his father in managing the company. Thanks to design studies conducted abroad, Walter opens the doors of the family brand to design and international markets, which inspire him and towards which he directs his gaze. A new company was established in 1982, named Colico Design.

The 90s

Ten years have passed since the establishment of the new company, and Walter is joined by his younger brother Diego. Along with their father Antonio and an increasingly close-knit and consolidated family of collaborators, the company grows and strengthens in international markets, also thanks to participation in trade fairs. These are years of experimentation, the first tentative approach to using colors, but also attention to lines, which Walter greatly desired, increasingly becoming a creative element of the company thanks to his talent for beautiful, eccentric, and experimental things.

The year 2000

At the turn of the century, Colico Design expands thanks to an Italian and foreign distribution network. It's time to focus on the image, time to work on a representative collection. In this way, Walter collaborates with young architects and promising designers. The success was immediate: new, important business contacts were established, and Colico products began to be chosen by the most important television programs in the fields of entertainment, sports, information, and customs.

The year 2010

Walter, along with his childhood friend, now renowned architect Kicco Bestetti, creates an iconic product: the Milano 2015 chair. In this product, he pours his heart: love for his city and the joy of being an Expo 2015 host, a passion for color and new technologies, classic lines, as well as memories and emotions of forms he has been closely connected with since childhood. It is an immediate success that continues to this day and has placed Milano 2015 at the center of several projects, including Design for Charity held in the magnificent setting of the Triennale building in April 2011, featuring artists of the caliber of Karim Rashid, Piero Lissoni, Elio Fiorucci, and Patricia Urquiola.

The Year 2015

Walter's journey of discovery and introspection leads to 2015, where the path is a return to the origins through a new collection, where wood and upholstery return to the forefront, culminating in the creation of a new logo. A logo that centers on family, roots, and blood ties, but also on the people who have contributed to the creation of the history and tradition of this company, which is experiencing a century of history. But also attention to the new, the desire to propose a different product, the desire to engage and ask: what is an atypical project.

The Year 2020

Today, Colico celebrates its 100th anniversary. 100 years spent by a family passing down their knowledge from hand to hand. A company that strives for growth while maintaining a family dimension, simultaneously intertwining its business and life with the lives of each of the people who grow and live within it.
