It is also the headquarters of the United Nations International Court of Justice, and is increasingly important as the venue for international conferences. The International Court of The Hague was created in 1945 in order to resolve legal conflicts among nations. Its creation, as a direct result of the Founding Charter of the United Nations, brought with it the drafting of a Statute which established its constitution and functioning.
