The collaboration of these two highly creative individuals has resulted in a distinctive and fresh perspective on art. They proudly emphasize that Ongaro & Fuga embodies a centuries-old tradition, reviving the magic and elegance of Venetian mirrors.

Their talent was inherited by their son Julian, who continues the family traditions. Through collaborations with international artists and designers, he creates a bridge to the future. This is a significant nod to family heritage and multi-generational craftsmanship. Julian believes that every cloud or colorful Italian facade reflected in the lagoon waters provides vibrant material for new designs. Many of these luxurious mirrors are faithful reproductions of historic pieces. Ongaro & Fuga is part of the Consorzio Promovetro di Murano – an important consortium that is a member of Confartigianato Venezia and Confindustria Venezia. For over twenty years, they have continuously worked to strengthen the image of artistic glass to preserve and defend the thousand-year-old Murano glass art. This is a highly significant initiative that does a lot of good for cultural heritage. Ongaro and Fuga are proud of their Promovetro certification for producing their mirrors on Murano.

What does the production process look like?

This is a truly extraordinary product. Its beauty reflects a very long process—laborious work done with hands, heart, and soul. That is why Ongaro and Fuga’s artistic mirrors come at a premium. The effort involved often exceeds 100 hours and may include thousands of decorative elements. This is genuine luxury and a testament to the strength of European family workshops. For centuries, artisans have driven the evolution of the premium industry, shaping the final appearance of each piece with their hands. Everything begins with a sketch on paper. Then, the glass is gradually shaped to fit the design, using very delicate and smooth diamond grinding stones. Step by step, they refine sharp edges and uneven surfaces.
