The Italian manufacturer MASCHERONI was founded about 40 years ago in Cabiate, a town near Milan, in the heart of the Brianza production district, where its headquarters are located. The company has not rested on its laurels; it began designing and creating special products and complete sets of prestigious furniture for its discerning clients, those seeking top-tier products, first in Europe and then worldwide. Mascheroni now operates permanently in over eighty countries.
MASCHERONI is today one of the few brands that manage and control the entire production cycle, thus ensuring excellent quality at every stage of the production process, from the selection of raw materials, through production, to custom services. Everything is based on teamwork and the skills and quality of individual craftsmen. Most elements of each product are handcrafted and made using the most modern machines. However, everything is then completely assembled by hand, and it is no coincidence that one of the brand's main goals is to ensure continuity by maintaining a high level of employee training and further enhancing it. Therefore, each "senior" master craftsman is surrounded by a younger craftsman so that they can complete their path of specialization and also become a master.
The pursuit of excellence and continuous innovation are the foundations characterizing Mascheroni products, and thanks to this, the company is recognized worldwide.
Experience and in-depth knowledge of the materials used, production methods, and any problem-solving solutions inherent to the products, along with continuous investments in research and development, ensure that the products are durable and will retain their value over time. Quality controls are carefully conducted throughout the production cycle, and the materials themselves are thoroughly examined to ensure quality compliance with function at every stage of the production process. The final product is thoroughly tested to ensure it functions correctly and is deeply analyzed to ensure it meets the aesthetics envisioned in the original design.
What leathers does Mascheroni use
The leathers typically used in our sector are about 1.1 - 1.2 mm thick because they are cheaper and easier to process. These more popular leathers are not part of the Mascheroni sample range. The thinnest leathers the brand works with are about 1.4 mm, and this is the starting point. So all the given prices are for products made in leather of this thickness. The company also has different categories of leathers, all of which are significantly thicker and therefore more challenging to process, but they ensure longer durability of the final product. What makes their leather so difficult to process, besides being twice or sometimes even three times thicker than regular leathers, are the physical characteristics of the leathers: for example, "vegetable-tanned leather" is really difficult to bend.
NATURAL LEATHERS by Mascheroni
These leathers are tanned to preserve all the natural characteristics and excellence of the leathers themselves, including the traces of the animal's life, such as small insect bites, wrinkles, and various grain patterns. All these marks indicate that the product is indeed natural and should therefore be considered as quality features of the product. Mascheroni's task is to ensure the best possible cutting of the leathers so that these "traces" do not appear on the visible parts of the products. Cattle hides, mainly European, with a thickness of 1.4 to 1.5 mm, are chrome salt tanned, drum-dyed aniline, natural grain, full. They have a soft and warm, extremely beautiful appearance. Cattle hides, mainly European, with a thickness of 1.6 to 1.8 mm, chrome salt tanned, drum-dyed aniline, full grain. Translucent, almost smooth surface with an aniline effect, "hard" and solid.
PELLE 3M / A
Cowhides, mainly European, thickness 2.2 mm, chrome salt tanned, drum-dyed aniline, natural full grain. Feels like silk. A wonderful and delicate material of unparalleled beauty. Small imperfections guarantee that the hides are natural.
PELLE 3M
Cowhides, mainly European, thickness 3 - 4 mm, chrome salt tanned, drum-dyed aniline, natural full grain. Almost 4mm thickness guarantees the product's longevity. The surface features extraordinary natural life marks of the animal. Full grain. Strong and warm.
Vegetable Tanned Leather
Cowhides, mainly European, thickness 2.2 mm, vegetable tanned, full grain. Translucent smooth surface, strong and warm. An excellent material, exceptionally beautiful. Available only as half hides. Vegetable tanning uses an ancient recipe that combines old processes with all currently available technologies. This process is carried out by tanners who, with care and passion, pass down their slow tanning craftsmanship from generation to generation, thus transforming raw hides into leather without compromising nature in any way. The process relies on the use of natural tannins extracted from trees, new technology, and a long processing time. Indeed, it takes almost 40 days to transform raw hide into leather that is unique and unparalleled in the world. Vegetable-tanned leathers bear the marks of our lives. They age but do not spoil. It is the changes and personal use over time that testify to the product's naturalness.
Over the years, the colors of the tannins give the leather warm shades that tend to stand out on the surface of each element during use. Therefore, the products become unique, personal, and unmatched for each user. The product tends to transform depending on how it is used, thus bringing out its better side. Choosing a product made from this leather means owning an exclusive and one-of-a-kind product.
The use of tannins leads to products of extremely high quality: soft and smooth leathers, marked with full and shiny dyes, finished in every possible way, and intended for any application. Products that also have enviable mechanical wear, fully sustainable products, even from the point of view of water and temperature resistance, parameters that are often cited as important limitations for natural products.
The result is a product that is superior in every way, combining excellent technical properties with the prerogative of being made from materials with bygone tastes, warm colors, and unique design, a product that will last and improve over time, something that can be safely disposed of at the end of its use period.
Wood
The Mascheroni wood collection consists of over 10 different types of wood from the "Mascheroni Wood Color System" catalog. The company strives to select only the best parts of the wood. The main structures of sofas and armchairs are mostly made of solid wood. In contrast, in furniture production, solid wood is only partially used. This varies depending on the product, depending on the shape and the expected aesthetic effect, which requires matching solid wood, plywood, profiled plywood, wooden slats, root, and other enhanced materials.
Proof that the Mascheroni product stands out for its quality and materials used is also the weight of the final product. On average, the final product weighs 50% more than a normal product. The knowledge of wood has led the company to thoroughly explore the diverse possibilities offered to obtain new and increasingly exclusive collections. The final product is the fruit of the craftsmen's wisdom and innovation.
It signifies the desire and diligence to meet the demands of Mascheroni's very demanding clients, people who want special and tailor-made products with a very high level of craftsmanship. It is undoubtedly a very challenging field, but one that allows the company to express its potential and ultimately gives them a lot of satisfaction.
Italian art and cultural heritage have always been at the heart of the brand's pride and identity. Throughout its history, Mascheroni has funded the restoration of some of Canova's artworks, organized art awards, supported old venues such as Libreria Bocca (the oldest bookstore in Italy), and continuously funds important associations like FAI (the Italian National Trust), which protects, restores, and opens historical sites and buildings across Italy to the general public.
