Description
Emphasis on material and contrast created by the balance and use of opposing materials, such as oak wood and steel sheet. Acqua Alta bistrot is a product designed to add a touch of originality to bars and clubs, public areas, and snack zones.
Creative design combined with extraordinary projects is synonymous with the Colico brand. It is a nod to true craftsmanship, multi-generational manufacturing, and details that ultimately influence the style of the products made. A major advantage of these exclusive chairs is the wide range of color choices and combinations, allowing you to have your dream design in your interior.
A sip of company history
The year is 1920, and in Brianza, a land with a peasant tradition near Milan, the first schools of design and carpentry are born, and artisan shops engaged in furniture production are gaining strength. This is where the company's history unfolds. A family history that begins with Andrea Colico and his passion for chairs, which he produces in a small space in the courtyard of the town of Cabiate.
The 50s
After the difficult post-war years, the first breeze of change is felt by Antonio, Andrea's son. Aware of the growing attention of the bourgeois public to the value of the home and its associated goods, their refined taste, and the advancing process of urbanization, he chooses for himself and his family to move to Varedo, close to what is becoming one of the most important cities in Europe: Milan.
The 60s
These are the golden years of furniture. The production of chairs is deeply rooted in this territory, from which it draws due to taste, tradition, and to which it has always had a strong sense of belonging. But for Antonio, this is not enough; Antonio is a cautious entrepreneur and takes advantage of the opportunity related to the development of a new district in the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia and begins to differentiate the semi-finished products acquired in the province of Udine from the processing that continues in his workshop in Brianza.
The 70s
Antonio Colico continues to grow and expand. These are flourishing years, years of economic development, where work is seen as a social value. And it is precisely at this historical moment that Antonio decides to open a production plant in Friuli, a region increasingly specializing in wood processing for chair construction. However, the head and heart of the brand remain in Brianza, where Antonio's wife and his most loyal collaborators continue to work on the coatings and finishes of the products, paying attention to quality and the details for which the company is recognized. The commercial structure also began to take shape thanks to participation in 1970 in its first Salone Internazionale del Mobile, an event to which the Colico family would dedicate itself for the next 50 years.
The 80s
The third significant stage in the entrepreneurial history of the Colico family began in the 80s. Young Walter, the eldest son of Antonio and Maria, supports his father in managing the company. Thanks to design studies conducted abroad, Walter opens the doors of the family business to design and international markets, which he is inspired by and to which he directs his gaze. A new company was established in 1982, named Colico Design.
The 90s
Ten years have passed since the establishment of the new company, and Walter is joined by his younger brother Diego. Along with their father Antonio and an increasingly close-knit and consolidated family of collaborators, the company grows and strengthens in international markets, also thanks to participation in trade fairs. These are years of experimentation, the first tentative approach to the use of colors, but also attention to lines, which Walter greatly desired, who increasingly becomes a creative element of the company thanks to his talent for beautiful, eccentric, and experimental things.
The year 2000
At the turn of the century, Colico Design expands thanks to an Italian and foreign distribution network. It's time to focus on the image, time to work on a representative collection. In this way, Walter collaborates with young architects and forward-thinking designers. The success was immediate: new, important business contacts were established, and Colico products began to be chosen by the most important television programs in the fields of entertainment, sports, information, and customs.
Year 2010
Walter, along with his childhood friend, now renowned architect Kicco Bestetti, creates an iconic product: the Milano 2015 chair. In this product, he puts his all: love for his city and the joy of being the host of Expo 2015, a passion for color and new technologies, classic lines, as well as memories and emotions of forms he has been closely connected with since childhood. It is an instant success that continues to this day and has placed Milano 2015 at the center of several projects, including Design for Charity held in the magnificent setting of the Triennale building in April 2011, attended by artists of the caliber of Karim Rashid, Piero Lissoni, Elio Fiorucci, and Patricia Urquiola.
Year 2015
Walter's path of discoveries and introspection leads to 2015, where the journey is a return to the origins through a new collection, in which wood and upholstery return to the role of protagonists, culminating in the creation of a new logo. A logo that places family, roots, and blood ties at its center, but also the people who contributed to creating the history and tradition of this company, which is experiencing a century of history. But also attention to the new, a desire to propose a different product, a desire to engage and ask: what is an atypical project.
Year 2020
Today, Colico celebrates its 100th anniversary. 100 years spent by a family passing down their knowledge from hand to hand. A company that strives for development while maintaining a family dimension, simultaneously intertwining its business and life with the lives of each of the people who grow and live within it.
