The Barbin family belongs to the eminent glassmaking dynasties that have left their mark on the island of Murano since the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, during the Venetian Republic, the Barbin family was inscribed in the Golden Book of Murano Society’s Notables by decree of the Council of Ten, known as the register of the most distinguished glassmakers in Venice.
Additionally, their coat of arms was granted at that time — depicting two bearded sages looking at each other with a star above their heads on a blue background — which can still be seen today in the Glass Museum on Murano island.
