Table decorations have a long history, and although there is no specific word in Polish for this entire group of items, it exists in both Italian — as centrotavola — and English — as centerpiece. These decorations can take the form of a small plate, bowl, vase, or flat candle holder, and their purpose is to attract attention and create a focal point in table decor.
