Odegard Carpets was established in the late 1980s, revolutionizing the traditional world of weaving craftsmanship. The production often uses Himalayan wool. It comes from the fleece of local sheep grazed at altitudes above 14,000 feet above sea level. Their wool is rich in lanolin, which makes these rugs more stain-resistant.
Beautiful colors are the result of manual processing and dyeing. Inspirations for the rug designs combine Venetian fabrics, Tibetan and Buddhist symbols, art, architecture, and nature. Many patterns are inspired by tropical leaf shapes or the spectacle of the sunset over the peaks of the majestic Himalayas.
All Odegard Carpets products are handmade from highly selected silk and Himalayan wool yarns. Wool dyeing occurs during a completely natural process. Only organic materials are used: nuts, roots, or saffron—while maintaining the highest quality.
