Description

By contradicting some aspects of modernism, the postmodernism movement restores certain ideas rejected by contemporary aesthetics. This hard-to-define design style was a reaction to the utopian ideals of modernism. But in postmodernism, everything is a declaration of style, characterized by vibrant colors, theatricality, and exaggeration.

Malabar designers let their imagination run wild, influencing this future-classic bed design. Strikingly crafted from wood and upholstered with cotton velvet, the bed was designed to create a fluid, artistic composition for the bedroom decor. The Post-Future II bed transforms the room from cozy to artistic, redefining the bedroom's appearance.

The Malabar brand was founded in 2012, along with the launch of a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and the elegant World Architects furniture collection. It has designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory series.

Malabar has left its mark at major international trade fairs such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are among the top venues for showcasing innovative design.

Malabar’s furniture design originates from the Porto area, in northern Portugal, a region with a long and strong tradition of handcrafted products.

The identity of this prestigious brand is rooted in the national architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries. International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that guide such original companies. Emotions, handcrafted techniques, and space-inspired design create an explosive mix of luxurious furniture. Various manufacturing techniques using natural wood produce incredible effects, as seen in Malabar’s exceptional collections.

An important aspect of their design is the combination of neutral and black colors. Juicy and vivid hues dominate, significantly deviating from classic and stereotypical furniture. Besides wood, the manufacturer uses brass, gold and silver leaf, and other high-quality raw materials. The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly reflected in their bold furniture designs.

The company’s name derives from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the Cape. The value of original spices prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a daring sea route. This remains true today, as Malabar continues to define very individual design boundaries and evokes strong emotions with its projects. Their designs are very liberated, seductive, bold, and extremely luxurious.
