The brand was established in the late 1980s, revolutionizing the weaving craft industry. For their carpets, they prefer to use Himalayan wool sourced from local sheep. These sheep graze at altitudes above 14,000 feet above sea level. Their wool is rich in lanolin, which makes these carpets more stain-resistant.
Interesting shades are the result of manual processing and dyeing. Inspirations for the carpets come from a blend of Venetian fabrics, Tibetan and Buddhist symbols, art, architecture, and nature. Many motifs are inspired by tropical leaf shapes or the spectacle of the setting sun over the Himalayan mountain ranges.
All Odegard Carpets products are handcrafted from carefully selected silk and Himalayan wool yarns. Wool dyeing is a 100% natural process, maintaining the highest quality. Organic materials such as nuts, roots, or saffron are used for dyeing.
