The brand was founded in the late 1980s, revolutionizing the world of weaving craftsmanship. For their carpets, they often choose Himalayan wool sourced from local sheep. These sheep graze at altitudes above 14,000 feet above sea level. Their wool is rich in lanolin, which makes these carpets more stain-resistant.
Interesting shades result from hand processing and dyeing. Inspiration for the carpets comes from a blend of Venetian fabrics, Tibetan and Buddhist symbols, art, architecture, and nature. Many motifs are inspired by tropical leaf shapes or the spectacle of the setting sun over the Himalayan mountain ranges.
All Odegard Carpets products are handmade from carefully selected silk and Himalayan wool yarns. Wool dyeing is a 100% natural process, maintaining the highest quality. Organic materials such as nuts, roots, or saffron are used for dyeing.
