The Italian brand MASCHERONI was founded about 40 years ago in Cabiate, a town near Milan, in the heart of the Brianza production district, where its headquarters are located. The company did not rest on its laurels; it began designing and creating special products and complete sets of luxury furniture for its demanding clients, those seeking top-tier products, first in Europe and then worldwide. Mascheroni now operates permanently in over eighty countries.
MASCHERONI is today one of the few companies that manage and control the entire production cycle, thus ensuring excellent quality at every stage of the production process, from raw material selection, through production, to custom services. Everything is based on teamwork and the skills and quality of individual craftsmen. For the most part, the elements of each product are handcrafted and use state-of-the-art machines. However, everything is then completely assembled by hand, and it is no coincidence that one of the company's main goals is to ensure continuity by maintaining a high level of employee training and further enhancing it. Therefore, each "senior" master craftsman is surrounded by a younger craftsman so that they can complete their path of specialization and also become a master.
The pursuit of excellence and continuous innovation are the foundations characterizing Mascheroni products, and thanks to this, the brand is recognized worldwide.
Experience and in-depth knowledge of the materials used, production methods, and any problem-solving solutions inherent to the products, along with continuous investments in research and development, ensure that the products are durable and retain their value over time. Quality controls are meticulously conducted throughout the production cycle, and the materials themselves are subjected to thorough examination to ensure quality compliance with function at every stage of the production process. The final product is thoroughly tested to ensure it functions correctly and is deeply analyzed to ensure it meets the aesthetics envisioned in the original design.
What leathers does the Mascheroni brand use
The leathers typically used in our sector are about 1.1 - 1.2 mm thick because they are cheaper and easier to process. These more popular leathers are not part of Mascheroni's sample range. The thinnest leathers the brand works with are about 1.4 mm, and that is the starting point. So all the given prices are for products made with leather of this thickness. The company also has various categories of leathers, all significantly thicker and therefore more challenging to process, but they ensure longer durability of the final product. What makes their leather so difficult to process, besides being twice or sometimes even three times thicker than regular leathers, are the physical characteristics of the leathers: for example, "vegetable-tanned leather" is really hard to bend.
NATURAL LEATHERS by Mascheroni
These leathers are tanned to preserve all the natural characteristics and perfection of the hides themselves, including the animal's life marks such as small insect bites, wrinkles, and various grain patterns. All these marks indicate that the product is indeed natural and should therefore be considered as quality features of the product. Mascheroni's task is to ensure the best possible cutting of the hides so that these "marks" do not appear on the visible parts of the products. Cattle hides, mainly European, with a thickness of 1.4 to 1.5 mm, are tanned with chromium salts, drum-dyed aniline, natural grain, full grain. They have a soft and warm, exceptionally beautiful appearance. Cattle hides, mainly European, with a thickness of 1.6 to 1.8 mm, tanned with chromium salts, drum-dyed aniline, full grain. Translucent, almost smooth surface with an aniline effect, "hard" and solid. PELLE 3M / A Cattle hides, mainly European, thickness 2.2 mm, tanned with chromium salts, drum-dyed aniline, natural grain, full grain. Feels like silk. A magnificent and delicate material of unparalleled beauty. Minor imperfections are a guarantee that the hides are natural. PELLE 3M Cattle hides, mainly European, thickness 3 - 4 mm, tanned with chromium salts, drum-dyed aniline, natural grain, full grain. Almost 4mm thickness guarantees a long product lifespan. The surface features extraordinary natural life marks of the animal. Full grain. Strong and warm. VEGETABLE TANNED LEATHER Cattle hides, mainly European, thickness 2.2 mm, vegetable tanned, full grain. Translucent smooth surface, strong and warm. An excellent material, exceptionally beautiful. Available only as half hides. Vegetable tanning uses an old recipe that combines ancient processes with all currently available technologies. This process is carried out by tanners who, from generation to generation, pass on their slow tanning craftsmanship with care and passion, thus transforming raw hides into leather without endangering nature in any way. A process that relies on the use of natural tannins obtained from trees, new technology, and a long processing time. Indeed, it takes almost 40 days to transform raw hide into leather that is unique and unparalleled in the world. Vegetable-tanned leathers bear the marks of our lives. They age but do not spoil. It is the changes and personal use over time that testify to the naturalness of the product. Over time, the colors of the tannins give the leather warm shades that tend to stand out on the surface of each element during use. Therefore, products become unique, personal, and one-of-a-kind for each user. The product tends to transform depending on how it is used, thus bringing out its better side. Choosing a product made from this leather means owning a prestigious and unique product. The use of tannins leads to products of extremely high quality: soft and smooth leathers, marked with full and glossy dyes, finished in all possible ways, and also intended for any application. Products that also have enviable mechanical wear, fully sustainable products, even from the point of view of water and temperature resistance, parameters that are often mentioned as important limitations for natural products. The result is a product that is better in every way, combining excellent technical properties with the prerogative of being made from materials with past tastes, warm colors, and unique design, a product that will last and improve over time, something that can be safely disposed of at the end of its usage period. Wood The Mascheroni wood collection consists of over 10 different wood species from the "Mascheroni Wood Color System" catalog. The company strives to select only the best parts of the wood. The main structures of sofas and armchairs are mostly made of solid wood. In turn, in furniture production, solid wood is used only partially. This varies depending on the product, depending on the shape and the expected aesthetic effect, which requires matching solid wood, plywood, profiled plywood, wooden slats, root, and other enhanced materials.
The proof that Mascheroni products stand out for their quality and materials used is also the weight of the final product. On average, the final product weighs 50% more than a normal product. The company's knowledge of wood has led it to thoroughly explore the diverse possibilities offered to create new and increasingly exclusive collections. The final product is the fruit of the craftsmen's wisdom and innovation.
It signifies the desire and diligence to meet the demands of Mascheroni's very discerning clients, people who want special and tailor-made products with a very high level of craftsmanship. It is undoubtedly a very challenging field, but one that allows the company to express its potential and ultimately brings them great satisfaction.
Italian art and cultural heritage have always been at the heart of the brand's pride and identity. Throughout its history, Mascheroni has funded the restoration of some of Canova's artworks, organized art awards, supported old places like Libreria Bocca (the oldest bookstore in Italy), and continuously funds important associations such as FAI (Italian Trust Fund), which protects, restores, and opens historical sites and buildings throughout Italy to the wider public.
